Speaker Bio
Anna founded the eponymous label Anna October in 2010, utilising her expertise in pattern cutting and fine art to create women’s apparel with the essence of free-spirited femininity. In the years that followed, Anna October was shortlisted for LVMH, with the brand becoming a part of Mercedes-Benz's Generation Now, Generation Next project, showcasing up-and-coming designers. Tastemakers across the globe have expressed appreciation for the brand, with trendsetters, including Hailey Bieber, Lady Gaga, Megan Fox, and Camila Morrone pictured wearing the brand's designs. In 2022, Anna October joined the BoF 500 list and presented her collection at Paris Fashion Week. To date, Anna October boasts two exclusive collaborations with J.Crew and in 2024, Anna was shortlisted in Vogue US, in the 37 Women Dressing Women list.
Born and raised in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, Anna sought to bring a sense of artistry to a city lacking in creative inspiration. During adolescence, she developed a keen interest in fashion and left school to study pattern cutting and tailoring. Aged 17, Anna pursued an education in fine arts at the Grekov Odesa Art School. It was then Anna showcased her first capsule collection, which amassed admirers of her works within Ukraine’s fashion community. Thereafter, Anna collaborated with Ra13 (a concept store located in Antwerp) debuting her earliest collection. In 2022, Anna was forced to flee from Kyiv, as a result of the Russian occupation, however, the brand remains spirited and proudly boasts its Ukrainian heritage. Anna October continues to operate between studios in Kyiv, Tallinn and Paris, with visionary Anna pledging her commitment to supporting emerging artists in Ukraine.
Anna October is built on a celebration of the female form and clothing as a self-empowerment vessel, highlighting the importance of dressing for one’s self. At its core are Anna October's silken dresses, crafted with femininity and grace, alongside its complimentary cashmere and lingerie and elevated tops. Designed to hone in on the power of dressing boldly, Anna October pieces evoke a whimsical element, combined with an easy-to-wear lilt, to transcend myriad occasions — meaning the pieces can be re-worn ‘loved and lived in” through several stages in a woman’s life. As a proud Ukrainian brand, you’ll find a homage with Made in Ukraine labels adorned on each garment.
